Brother Duane D. Young

 -1983-

A master's job is never done, it lives on through the ages.

The annual Installation of Officers was held on December 11, 1982 and the installing musician was Joni Martin. After the installation a light refreshment was served in the dining hall.

In February Bro. Gilbert James Marshall was given his 50 year pin at his home being unable to come to Lodge. He was the uncle of then Senior Warden James "Jake" Marshall.

In March there was an OK given to put the parking lot lights that are mounted on the back of the building. I want to let everyone know that the newly installed Secretary took very different notes and most of the minutes are mainly just facts written out on the paper.

In April, Senior Warden James "Jake" Marshall, announced with regret the need to resign as Senior Warden. In May, Ted Lindsey Inspector of the 416th Masonic District, reported on a cornerstone laid by the Grand Master, the Grand Master's breakfast and of a mortgage burning party thrown by a Lodge to celebrate the fact that they had paid of the mortgage on their building. Also there was Past Master's Night on the 26th and a good time was enjoyed by all with a fine dinner enjoyed before Lodge.

In June, to correct a possible mistake at the previous stated meeting, the Lodge re-balloted on 4 men to receive the degrees of Masonry in Clovis lodge. All four men were elected. This was done under the supervision of Inspector Ted Lindsey. Bro. Lyle Smith PM was installed as Senior Warden for the remainder of the year.

Also in June, Bro. Michael Thompson of Pittsburg Lodge 429 located in Pittsburg, Ca., came to Clovis Lodge to obligate his son, William L. Thompson. Bro. Michael also gave the first degree lecture to his son.

Bro. W. D. Darby, Past Master of Clovis Lodge, passed away on August 9th. Kind words spoken were, "Bro. Darby coached me in all three degrees of the officers work and he was seriously ill during most of his term as Master of Clovis Lodge. He will be missed by the many people who knew and respected him." In August it was brought to the attention of the lodge that when someone speaks it should be loud enough far all of those present to hear.

In September the Grand Lodge of California, opened Lodge in Clovis Lodge, for the laying of a cornerstone at Lincoln Elementary School. In October the Senior Deacon was relieved of his office but no reason was given in the minutes.

In November the hand rails for the main entrance were being made and ready to be installed. Also the Senior Warden, Bro. Lyle Smith Past Master of Clovis Lodge, announced that he could not continue on to his trip to the East.

Brethren lost to death in this year were Bro's. Donald M. Knotts who passed away in Alaska, Glen K. Rasmussen, Ellis C. Noren, Malcolm E. Wilson, Grover Tyson Gazaway, Jack Calvert Burk, Robert Bigelow, Raymond Leland Obensham, Clyde Hayes Branett, Sarkis E. Gajarian, James Russell Pierce and Enos H. Stevenson.
